Many thanks to all of the great people who came down to the river over the weekend and visited us at the Wings of Spring Festival. We had 60 people take turns carving on "Robin Hood", our latest local dugout canoe project. Quapaw Canoe Company's "King Beaver" was a big hit, diplaying the beauty and amazing craftsmanship of a John Ruskey dugout canoe.
As a result of the five trips we did beginning Friday night and ending with a fabulous Sunday night paddle with Craig, Denise, Lisa and six year old Madison, we have decided to really promote the Sunset Birding Trip - circumnavigation of Maple Island. It is a fantastic three hour tour of the river section of the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary. If you are interested in a Maple Island Bird Trip, contact us and we will schedule it. Definitely consider the Sunset version. We leave at 5 PM and return at 8 PM.
