Full Moon Float

Come join us on our world famous Full Moon Float on the Mighty Mississippi River! After meeting at the put in, we outfit you with all of the necessary paddling gear and help you board one of our extraordinary 29 foot voyageur canoes. After a short paddle with a Big Muddy Adventures guide and your new river friends, we will arrive on a beautiful uninhabited river island just in time for sunset and the "magic hour". While you explore the beach and island, a "campfire gourmet" dinner is prepared for you to enjoy around the fire. After enjoying a meal and some stargazing, we will paddle to the take out under the moonlight. This Big Muddy Adventures signature trip is truly a night to remember!

Overnight Trips

On September 1st - 2nd, we’re offering for the first time an instructional overnight trip Canoe Camping Workshop in which participants will learn how to plan, prep and execute multi-day canoe camping trips. Not only will you have a great time on one of our classic overnight excursions, you’ll leave with the confidence to do it on your own next time! And just in time for beautiful fall weather, our favorite season for camping!

On October 18th - 20th, we’re departing on a three-day, two-night Fall Colors Expedition. Paddling between Hermann and St. Charles, we’ll see the bluffs and banks of the Missouri River ablaze with the vibrant reds and oranges of fall and enjoy cool evenings under the stars while dining on gourmet dinners around the campfire.

On November 1st - 3rd, we’re exploring the French Corridor Expedition from St. Louis down to Ste. Genevieve. Experience the river islands and historic places settled by the French in the 17th and 18th centuries while traveling in our signature hand-built Voyageur canoe and enjoying gourmet, 18th-century French cuisine cooked over an open campfire. This tour includes a stop at Fort de Chartres, where we’ll see soldiers, trappers, traders and Native Americans as portrayed by historical reenactors bartering supplies and buying goods. The trip will cover approximately 70 miles on the Mississippi River.

STL Riverfront Adventure

What better way to experience the Great River City than from the river! It includes a classic paddling trip in a professionally guided voyageur canoe, a chance to explore nature on a pristine Mississippi River island, as well as experience some unique and incredible views of the downtown riverfront. We meet right in front of the Arch, and shuttle to our put in upstream on the Mighty Mississippi. Our expert guides will provide you with everything you need and help you board one of our extraordinary 29 foot voyageur canoes. Our route takes us into the only non-navigational reach of the River to an island to enjoy lunch. There is plenty of time to explore the island before we continue our journey into the Port of St.Louis. We pass beneath five awesome, contemporary and famous historic bridges, with incredible views of some of St. Louis's oldest riverfront buildings. The final destination lands you right in front of the Gateway Arch on the historic landing of downtown St. Louis. This is a wonderful “only in St.Louis” experience you will love!

The Lewis and Clark Adventure

Join us on this guided canoe adventure and spend the day paddling on the longest river in North America, The Missouri! Meet us at Blanchette Landing Park in St. Charles, Missouri river mile 27. After a quick orientation and outfitting of river gear we set off on the Big Muddy! This trip takes us into amazing natural back channels where we can expect to see abundant wildlife and flora. After a quick lunch stop on a river island, we will pass the Lewis and Clark campsite of May 15th 1804, the second night of the expedition. Finishing up with a beautiful bluff lined bend, we will pull into our private boat ramp, where the Big Muddy shuttle will be waiting to take everyone back to the put in! This day trip is great for big river first timers and anyone who wants to experience a little piece this natural treasure right in our backyard!

“All Around Alton” Adventure

In partnership with the Alton Convention and Visitors Center, this is a fun Great Rivers day trip that will runs from Piasa Creek to Alton Marina. After meeting at Alton Marina at 10 am, we take a quick ride on the Big Muddy shuttle up to Piasa Creek. Once at the river our professional river guides outfit you with gear and assist you in boarding one of our extraordinary 29 foot voyageur canoes. Along our route, we will explore some of the braided pristine river islands of this amazing stretch of river, picking our favorite for a river picnic lunch. After lunch we will take in river bluff views as we head downstream and pull back into Alton Marina. You arrive with plenty of time to think about heading to Old Bakery Beer Co in historic downtown Alton for a post paddle refreshment! Or continue on your way to the Great Rivers Museum at the Lock, or to the Riverlands Audubon Center across the Clark bridge.

Meramec River Adventure

Come explore the lower Meramec River with us on this half-day river adventure. On this guided trip, we will be kayaking and canoeing on the Meramec from Pacific Palisades to Allenton. Let us take care of shuttle, boats and gear you just relax and get some river time with us and some new friends!
